Haiku the Third

Topic Three: 17-Syllable Movie Scene

Wendy's entry:

Singing Auld Lang Syne,
The Christmas tree is aglow.
Bells...an angel's wings.

Steve's entry:

Taunting King Arthur:
"Silly English knnnnnnnnnigit!"
Elderberry smell.

Be sure to check out Wendy's blog for her runners-up.

I vote for Wendy's... still trying to figure out what movie yours is about. I was hoping for "A Knight's Tale."

Honestly, Steve, I'm disappointed. No Star Wars? No Indiana Jones? (No "twit-of-the-year?" No "penguin on the telly?" I'm feeling cheated...)

Grey streaks in the void,
dust flecks on a black surface.
Wax your helmet, Darth.

Definately Wendy! But I liked her "alternate" better...I agree with Rick. But...the Clint Eastwood movies would have made for rich haiku fodder as well!

I declare a score less tie or how about, the tie goes to the "writer."

This is what happens when you take your act on the road, Steve - everyone's a critic!

So...I have no idea what this haiku-war of your's and Wendy's is all about, Thurman, but I just wanted to let you know...I have no idea what this haiku-war of your's and Wendy's is all about AT ALL.

Anyways, I was just on Loan's MySpace and read all about her series of "unfortunate" encounters with you. They really made me want to laugh. I didn't think you would really chase her around the office, but then again, Loan inspires us all to be a little crazy. Have you heard her logic, or reason--depending upon what you want to call it, of course--about why she NEVER hugs people? To put it simply, she really believes she has the touch of death. Maybe her reasoning has changed over the last year though, maybe not...but that's what she last told me.

Loved your picture of KCee. Did you know some moronic kid in the back actually had the audacity to ask someone of KCee's acquaintance what the word "momentous" meant? Guess he went to summer school for Engish previously...i wonder if he was on the five year plan...

Whatever. I've got to go. I have to get to bed after snoozing the day away. My dad expects us up at four--or is it pretty pleas five thirty--to work on the roof of our right-now-vacant-house tomorrow (or today depending on how technical you want to get.)

Hope your haiku-ing goes well--or better in light of the critics.

P.S. Wendy's haiku 3 really did trounce your's. I haven't read the others though. Maybe another time...

I was thinking about a "tie" vote, but decided that blood is thicker...etc...so I'm going with you, Steve.

How about scoring this like they do in hockey? An out-and out win "vote" is 2 points, and a "tie" is 1 point each. Well, there are NO "ties" in hockey...they go to overtime, but point system-wise, I think, each team gets one point, even if they win in overtime. But all I know is ECHL rules, and this applies only in the regular season, not play-offs, of course.
