Clarke on God
God is the eternal, independent, and self-existent Being; the Being whose purposes and actions spring from himself, without foreign motive or influence; he who is absolute in dominion; the most pure, the most simple, the most spiritual of all essences; infinitely perfect; and eternally self-sufficient, needing nothing that he has made; illimitable in his immensity, inconceivable in his mode of existence, and indescribable in his essence; known fully only by himself, because an infinite mind can only be fully comprehended by itself. In a word, a Being who, from his infinite wisdom, cannot err or be deceived, and from his infinite goodness, can do nothing but what is eternally just, and right, and kind."-- Adam Clarke
You can critique those words all you want. You can snark about the phrase "infinitely perfect," insisting that perfect is perfect and needs no modifier. You can even tease about the descriptive word promised in the last sentence which is, in fact, many words. But you can't deny the power of the paragraph, nor can you fail to give credit for the attempt to describe the indescribable. The only thing missing is the one word which truly can sum up our Father.

And oh how that word is missing in many discussions relating to God things.
It's hard to stretch my human mind to wrap around it all!
This is really off topic, but thanks for your comment from a long time ago. hahaha
I just figure out about my old blog, but in doing so I created another blog. I have two blogs now, both with similar titles and both currently having just one message. Both messages are different, so you may want to check the other one out too. I will post more actual blogs, but later because it is midnight now.
So I just deleted the old blog, since there was not much on there to begin with. So you can forget my last really off topic comment and replace it with this really off topic comment.
For a comment that is for once on topic...It is amazing how much we know about a being that we have not seen with our own physical eyes. Some of us know those descriptions to be true because we have experience it.
Good thoughts, however, I hesitate to use the words *sum up* with the direct object *God*. He is love, yet even bigger…
Randy is dead on. So many times issues are discussed about and around God but rarely in love.
