The Girls Are Back In Town

Now, aren't those three of the most beautiful girls you've ever seen in your life? And the single goofiest kid?
It was so cool to see our girls on American Idol last night. They were front and center, the two girls immediately to Josh Groban's right. They smiled so pretty and sang so well. A little too well, in fact.
See, Ellen DeGeneres was so taken with the choir that she asked them to be on her show today. Which means that they won't get to Fresno until late this evening and we will have hardly any time with them at all. Still, a little time is better than no time and we are going to make the most of it.

As most of you know, there was a serious fire at the church building a couple of nights ago. An arsonist started a blaze that ate through an exterior wall. There was extensive water damage to some classrooms and offices. We've been through fires before at College, but I feel that we are dealing with some anger and bitterness towards the perpetrator(s) and that's easy to understand. The workers are doing their best to get things back to normal as soon as possible. Lisa is working very hard to help keep things together for the school.

Amidst that kind of week, is it any wonder we look forward to even a short time with those smiling faces? I'm sure the girls will never know how we all feel God's love shown to us through them. We want so much for them to have good lives...to be healthy and happy even after they return to Uganda. If they are blessed even half as much as they have blessed others, then they will have wonderful lives indeed.

In their sweet innocence, I wonder if the girls realized how famous Josh Groban is - hopefully they've heard his amazing voice. Did Josh sing with them? I sure wish I had gone to see him - and them - sing. But back to those sweet girls...how fortunate you were to be their host again! When do they leave and where do they go? Any chance they'll come back to Fresno and give us an encore???

The church fire thing just makes me seethe. Any chance these arsonists were the ones who set a fire at Woodward as well? How did they get in?

I'm on-call 12 hours on sat - am I going to miss something at church...or is that on Sunday? Is it the car classic and Friends Day on Sunday? I'm so far out of the loop. (Work has been strange at best with the official merger...and all sorts of "surprises" have occurred. CRMC needs prayer, folks...prayer for the people! CRMC = Community Regional Medical (and Trauma) Center. Imagine several hundred individuals thrust together under one roof...no one knows anyone, much less anyone's idiosyncracies and routines. And everyone feels "threatened". And I have to spend 12 grueling hours in the new Trauma Surgery Sat. not knowing where anything is or what to expect. Prayers, please!!!) (I wouldn't ask if we didn't covet them.) I think they need to position an LCSW at every station...this has been so traumatic for everyone. It's all about unity!! Time will make it happen. Prayers will make it happen quicker. So many changes....some too quick. But we've been waiting for this for 10 years!!!

LOVED those precious people in the photos...must make copies for my picture gallery on the refrigerator! (Need more Magnetes)
