Legend
"Legend tells of a legendary warrior...whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend!"Now say that with Jack Black's voice and you'll understand why "Kung Fu Panda" was one of my favorite movies of the summer. I kid you not. You will not be disappointed.
This is the longest I've gone without blogging for quite a while. A couple of days there I missed intentionally, but then life got a little crazy and another week was added on for good measure. I'll try not to let it happen again. (Sorry, timeless.)
Things at College are a bit upside down right now. Our youth minister, who did some truly amazing things in the 6 months he was here, has decided to move on. I wish him all the best and covet prayers for the church and especially for the kids. They love him a lot. We are in the midst of a preaching minister search as well. Fortunately, we know that God holds all of this in His mighty hand.
Last night's All Star Game, it should be pointed out, is yet another reason to abandon this ridiculous "This Time It Counts" nonsense. An exhibition game should not decide home field advantage in the World Series. Period.
No, seriously, "Kung Fu Panda." Go see it. Great message. Beautiful animation.
I just spent over an hour deleting e-mail from my inbox and I'm not even half done yet. I may have been letting things slip. I am taking a summer pledge to be better about such things.
My seminary interview is tomorrow and the person setting it up told me not to worry about it. That made me chuckle.
Yesterday my doctor told me that all my labs look great and people would kill for my cholesterol number. (157. Is that really all that great?) In a time when I was beginning to feel my age for the first time, that was nice to hear.
Are you still reading this? You haven't gone to the theater yet? Sure, "Iron Man" was great and "Dark Knight" is going to be awesome. But it is all about "Kung Fu Panda" right now. You think I"m kidding, but I'm really not.
Finally, for now, here is a picture of my wife as a potato.

it's really sad about the Howlands...we hung out with them the other night, they were pretty tore up emotionally.
but, i know that they didn't really fit College...so, it's all for the better.
Keep them in your prayers. I'll really miss them.
Those pictures were NOT intended to post ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! You're in big trouble, mister!
Based on the comment above, you may never blog again!
My sweet friend Lisa as a potato?? What were you thinking Steve? But truly great stuff. I've changed my mind about whether we should see Wall-E. Going...
Um...............you might try bringing Lisa flowers..........
So what I hear you saying is go see Kung Fu Panda?
I'm deeply saddened about losing our youth minister. If I had young kids now, I would be very happy with him. But now, I just have a lot of questions - I am very concerned about our church kids.
As for the potato photo, you didn't ASK Lisa? Hoo-wee...you're gonna be in hot water!
Cholesterol of 157...very nice. I hope people know that a low, LOW cholesterol meal or two (or 3) before the test will reveal the best accurate value. No cheese, eggs and such...
Forgot to say...KFP...saw the rating on this movie, as in "A" "B", etc. It was given an A I believe. It's not always about the animation...although it must be phenomenal. It's the VOICES! Look at "Monsters-Inc"...John Goodman, and that little girls voice which fit her visage so perfectly.
I love GOOD cartoon movies...just like my kids.
And the better to see them with...with your new progressive lenses...although I doubt you were THAT close to the screen. BF's, PL's...whatever...you hit 40 and all the sudden they are necessary. Seems you had a few years after 40 without them...or were in denial during that time!
I LOVE my P.L.'s...since I read so much. Getting new ones in a week or so! Still wish I could go back to contacts though. The better to read your wonderful blog with!!
I beat your cholesterol score by one point. I win!
How did the interview go?
